The story of the Phoenician alphabet began from Byblos to the whole world. Many historians gathered many clues and evidence that Jbeil is the oldest city in the world, or at least a candidate, since it was inhabited 7000 years ago. It was called the "Byblos", while the coastal area - which the Greeks called Phenicia - was known to the inhabitants as Canaan, and 3,000 BC before the small village grew into a prosperous city because of its trade.

Jubail was the most important port for transporting timber to Egypt and other areas. It was also the best shipbuilding city due to the craftsmanship of its carpenters known as the "princes of the sea". Trade with Egypt, which greatly influenced the city in terms of cultural and religious, as well as physical aspects. In the famous Egyptian legend Isis and Osiris played Byblos the role of the city where Isis buried her husband's body under the trunk of a tree that grew up around him after being killed by his brother.

The Phoenicians also have their own account of religion, which tells of the stories of war in heaven and the eternal battle between the God of Good and the Evil God, and how this novel originated from the Phoenician mythology of the war between the heavenly god Baal and the god of the sea. Came from the Egyptian story about the war that took place between the son of Osiris and the god of darkness.

When the Amorians conquered the city in 2150 BC, they burned it. After they were expelled, they rebuilt the city and settled there. Their rule of the region ended in 1725 BC by the invasion of the Hyksos who ruled until the expulsion of the Egyptians in 1580 BC in their capture on the coast of Canaan.

During the Egyptian occupation, Phoenicians presented their most important contributions to the world: their 22-letter alphabet, which replaced the "cuneiform method" in biblical communication. Through trade, the Phoenician alphabet reached Greece in 800 BC and then spread to other countries through Greek merchants.
