The Secret of Eternal Eternity
The epic tells the story of Gilgamesh, the Sumerian boy,
Who wanted to accomplish something heroically, immortalize his memory and make him admired by the heroes. He decided that Ankidu, his friend, and his friend in power, would turn to such a courageous act, which was his decision to fight the Ghambas in the Cedar Forest. After an adventure of persuading Ancido, as well as the wise men of the city, and then a dangerous journey of travel, Gilgamesh and Ankidu passed through the great dangers.
So they succeeded in cutting the head of the Ghoul in the western forest, and offered him an offering to the sun. The gods grew up Ishtar Gilgamesh, and wanted to seduce him. He was rejected, because he believed that she betrayed her former lovers, and in response to the insult, Shetar plotted him, and sent (the heavenly bull) to wreak havoc in the city of Uruk. The two friends stood up to him: Gilgamesh and Ankidu, and killed him. So I decided that the death of one of the two heroes; because they killed a heavenly bull, was chosen Ankido for that, and so was the death of his share, after that adventure.
He then began to think about death and the mystery of life. He became more concerned about this idea and began a new journey in his life. He asked for life and youth. He thought of reaching God, and asked him to ask him about the mystery of eternity. And began the actual quest for this dangerous and wonderful trip. You know the legends of the Gods (Siduri) that know the way to the island of Utnapchtem.
And so she tells him about the existence of the private navigator who knows the island road inhabited by Utnabthem, with his wife, Khalidin. Gilgamesh comes to the sailor: Orshnabi, hastily. The magic plates that contain the talismans, the protective writings and the safety of the vessel are stumbled and trampled on, while the fumes of the water are in the sea of death, thus breaking the plates in which the talcum preserves the vessel from the risk of death in the sea.
When the navigator is asked to get to Utnabschtm, he answers: "The planks of the trip have broken. But the navigator gives him the idea: "That Gilgamesh lead the boat in such a way that it does not touch the dead water, and so he invented long objects for him to pay the boat." So Gilgamesh went to Utnabshtm and asked him about the mystery of eternity. She asked her husband to teach him how to know the secret of immortality, so he showed him how to take the herb of immortality from the seabed, and Gilgamesh hurried to it, reaching it and having it, after pain and wounds.
But on the way back, the inn to bathe in the river, came a snake and stole that herb. Gilgamesh lost immortality in this, as a result of his abandonment and disdain to some extent, and felt, certain and sad, that the fate of man, and must, annihilation.
