On the banks of the river of the dog there are many monuments and monuments that witness the different periods of the history of the eastern coast of the Mediterranean Sea and the history of the region that make up modern Lebanon. Monuments include 23 carved limestone monuments around the mouth of the Dog River, dating from the second millennium BC to the 20th century. There is also a sundial and a ruined statue of an unknown dog.
The inscriptions include three inscriptions written by the Egyptian Pharaohs, including Ramses II, six Assyrian and Babylonian cuneiform plates, including Asarhaddon, Nebuchadnezzar II, Roman and Babylonian inscriptions, Arabic writings by the Lameluke Sultan Barqouq, the Druze Prince Fakhruddin II, Napoleon III entered Lebanon in 1860, and another about Lebanon's independence from France in 1943. This place therefore summarizes the history of Lebanon in one place.
The first European to know the place in the seventeenth century is the traveler Henry Mandral in 1697. The first interpreter of engraved texts was Franz Heinrich in 1922.
