Historic Citadel of Sidon
Sidon Castle is a fortress built by the Crusaders on an island in the Lebanese city of Sidon in 1228 and about 80 meters from the shore. It is connected by a rocky bridge built on nine arches. It is believed to have been the site of a Phoenician temple dedicated to the worship of the god Malcret because of inscriptions on the stones used in the construction of the castle. And the eastern part of the castle was its main center is a large tower with several gates of the south side remains remains visible and one gate to the east still exists and the length of this tower 27 and width of 21 meters built a huge thick walls like the exterior used in the construction of granite columns .The entrance to the castle is adorned with carved black stones. A mosque built by al-Ashraf Salah al-Din Khalil is located in it and renewed by Prince Fakhreddine.
